Had a new convt. top put on my 68. The installer said my drivers side window needs a window stop so as the window won't roll up past the point where it slamps into the top when the door closes. I can't find anything on a window stop in any of my catalogs. Anyone have an idea on a fix for this. Thanks. |cussing|

I have a 68 coupe, but I've been told that the glass for a convertible is different. Is it possible you have a glass from a coupe in the car? I don't know what the difference is, but this could be a start. I've never had the door glass removed, only the inner panel and the felt at the top of the door. Have never seen any stops.

OK, this is from a 1979 shop manual, don't know if it will help you with a 68. The 2 channels that the window rollers go in, there are stops at the top.
Per the manual:
"Loosen front and rear stop screws.(these are just below where the channels bolt to the door at the top). Roll glass up until it properly seats in the roof weatherstrip. Move front and rear stops until they contact window rollers. Retighten screws".
Or maybe you have a bad roller?
Just guessing here. Good luck.
Mike

Hey, thanks, I found the screws that adjust the window stops. They are on either side of the top part of the door. Slightly indented with a phillips screw head. They screw into a plastic part that moves up and down in a groove. This allows the window to stop where ever you tighten the screw. It takes a little adjustment, and patients, but my window is fine now. |cheers|
