Soda Blasting will be through on Monday. I decided to go Rally Red PPG paint. The original color.
Now should I paint the hardtop black or the same color as the car. The convt. top is black. What did they do in 1968??????? The hardtop is black now.
Did GMC put out the hardtops in the car color or basic black.

I beleive the hardtops were available either in the car color, or with a black vinyl covering
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Correct...it's your money and you can have the top painted whatever color you like, but to be correct, it should be either body color or have vinyl covering.

YA...hardtop would be either body color, or a black vinyl covering...
I don't think I've ever seen a car with a top painted a different, complimenting color....might be kinda neat!

Just an added opinion here;
A friend of mine has a red '68 Vert. The hard top is also red.
Every time I see it with the red hard top on I think how much better it would look if the hard top were black.
So there!!!

I agree they came either body color or black vinyl, but I have seen earlier cars in a contrasting color, and it looked good. My orange '71 has black vinyl and looks sharp. Do whatever you want. It is easy to change down the road if you change your mind.

Once owned a 1968, 3 deuces convertible that had both tops. the hard top had the black vinyl on it and I always loved it because you could clean it an apply stuff to it and it would look great.

I missed that Install! I am glad I could help with the method though! I am glad it worked. I was in the parade last night..it was an absolute ball..people burning out. I had a long drive home thinking it was all over.. Had an incredible time..great people great time..Yogi is great!
