Topic: 1969 corvette body ?
in Forum: C3 Body
I just got a 1969 corvette, and was wondering what kind of hood it had, i can't seem to find one like this on any 1969, the whole hood lifts up....The Motor is a 350/350 matching as is the trans etc...The cars outside is in GREAT shape, no damage, missing the trim looks like he took it off to paint it and never put it back on, though i do have the two gill like pieces....
I was also wondering what a car like this goes for with the engine running, just a rough idea or price range...

Thanks Eric
Looks to be a tilt front end kit with a scaled down cowl induction. There were some after market kits offered in the 70's like this...Not sure where yours came from....Anyone else?
And welcome to C3VR!!! You'll find loads of info here!

Looks like the hood on my 79....but modified to flip entirely up like on the C-4....not my taste but....
It's difficult to be compare to most other 69's....and I won't venture to guess what yours would be worth, because it has been modded so much.
Oh and welcome to C3VR...best bunch of C-3 guys anywhere...

Yup...that's a custom tilt front end. It looks like a 70-72 type, judging by the front bumper area, and the side "gill" area. No telling where it originated.
As far as "What's it worth?" Less than a regular(stock) 69 most likely, depending on what you , or someone else is looking for. Without being able to see what the rest of the car looks like, how complete it is, and how much it requires to finish it, it's hard to put a value on it. I'd say it's worth what you paid for it...unless you paid too much!

Here's a shot of the hood and front of a stock '69 Small Block Hood (350ci/350hp). There are 4 gills on the sides with "Stingray" above them. Hope this helps.

This is the 1st time I might differ than Joel and guess this to be 74 - 77 era front end based on the design of the hood area, the nose without chrome bumper and marker light location.
Irregardless I agree with his value indications and would say enjoy it when it is completed. It should be pretty sharp, and would still be nice to see completed than dismantled!

...which would lead one to suspect the side vents from a '70-'72.

If you look at the front, the end of the body is very close to the headlights...as a '70-'72 would be...

It is a combination of several features from different years. Leading to the "custom" theory.

I'd say a company such as ACI, Vanacor, or even Ecklers. It's entirely possible that this is a one-off, "home-made" job, too. As long as the work is done nicely, it should be a looker when finished.
