I am in the process of restoring a 76 vin #1z37l6s418794. my problem is that the exterior trim code is 19l. which we all know was not available. It has a clean title and no body damage what so ever. it has deluxe light buckskin leather interior. but it has a 77 lower console. has anybody seen a car like this before??? is it a special order paint car????

I don't know about the '19l' code, but I can tell you that my '76 was tough to match parts and trim. Some of the items were 'early 76' and some were 'late 76'. They seem to have made a lot of production changes during that year.

Vette(s): 1976 Stingray, L48 auto Buckskin/Buckskin Leather originally. Numbers matching.
There is another thread going about colors, and someone stated that there are examples of color choices being added during the production run, and those colors are listed in the NCRS book, but not in say, the Corvette Black Book or Cheverolet's production figures. As for the console, I would say it was added by a previous owner.
The '95 Edition of the Corvette Black Book lists 46,558 Vettes built in '76, with 46,549 of those being normal optioned colors, and 9 being non-standard colors or primer only.

Theres no way to check any sites or with gm to see what it came with.
The trim tag and the tank sticker on your gas tank are the only way to get any info on the cars originality
19l seams like it would be the build date for the body
is it on the top of the trim tag?
there should be two more codes on the trim tag oneither side of the gm disclosure writing check it again and give me all the codes you see there.
and I can tell you what you have

Th trim tag on my 76 shows exterior paint code 10L. Peter Licastro's Fact Book indicates the 'L' signifies acrylic lacquer paint. They don't list color code 19 in the fact book or the 53-86 Black Book.
Color Code 19 (Black) is listed as a 77 color in the black book. Maybe it started in mid production 76?

Is there any way you can take a picture of your trim tag and send me a picture of it?

The info I got from GM was my trim was 192 (Black Leather). The other option being 19V (Black vinyl). So we know that code 19 must be the code for black. The "l" brings up the intering question. The list of options GM gave me was in part ZJ1 "Custom Interior". The confusing one for me is the ZP2 option, "Trim and Colour Overide" (whatever that means).
Perhaps ROBshotvette has a trim and custom overide option?
Sorry - jumped the gun you're talking exterior
