Here is my Question.
In 1979 there were 2 colors of brown offered.
One is 67- Hilton Brown Metallic and the other is 82 – Corvette Dark Brown.
What is the difference and why did they change the color?
My car is a mid year, it has the 140 speedo and the 3 door storage compartment behind the seats.
The interior is 59c, a light beige cloth.
The paint is original with the bonding strips easily seen.
I have seen one other 67, but the paint was past saving.
Is there a difference in the 2 colors?
People have called the color a chocolate brown.
I got the resto packet from GM and they use the 67 color in the 1978 info packet and all the books that are printed afterward use the 82 color.
Help!
Thanks - Hilton 67

This is a pretty good website for looking at color chips, I found your 67 brown there listed as a corvette color:

They show the 82 brown as a non-metallic truck color (81 was the metallic truck brown):

I suppose anything could be special ordered. What does your trim tag say?

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Dude:
Here's what my trim tag says
592 67L PAINT

I've been calling it Dark Brown all these years and you come out with this!

If you ask me the answer is simple...there are small metallic flakes in the paint!

Too cool. Thanks for posting your question.

Oh yeah, I forgot, the speedo only goes to 85, I still have the three compartments behind the seats, and the interior is Doeskin leather.

I love this group!

I have had a hard time finding brown cars in Ohio and had thought that they were quite rare.
Vettedreams79 your car looks quite a bit darker than mine.
Don is there a difference in the color of your 2 brown cars, or metallic?
I guess this has turned into a quest for me...
Everyone has to have a hobby...
