Vette(s): 1982 Bright Blue Corvette Coupe, 5.7L 350 V8 w/ a performance chip & 160-degree fail-safe thermostat, K&N filters, Hedman Headers & a tru-dual exhaust w/ Borla tips. Turbo-700 has a B&M Shift Kit & rear end has 3.73 posi-gears.
I have become annoyed of wrestling my bag of golf clubs in & out of the back of my 1982 coupe, so I would like to replace the rear window with the rear window & frame from the 1982 Collector's Edition, which opens, like the C4's & 5's for easier access. Has anyone ever attempted this feat, and if so, do you have any advice or suggestions that would help?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,
I have an 82 CE with the opening rear hatch. I don't know if changing your Vette's fixed rear window to an opening hatch is practical. My experience with availabilty for any part of the hatch assembly has been very poor. If you are fortunate enought to locate any parts, they are very expensive. The fiberglass body panel that the rear window mounts to is different and there are alot of other parts on the body specific to the opening hatch. Take a look in an 82 assembly manual or 82 Vette shop manual to get an idea what's involved.
I don't mean to be negative, anything can be done if you have enough money to throw at it, but I just don't think the results are worth the effort.
Just my 2 cents |biggrin|
Tom

Toms82 - appreciate your suggestions...I agree,it's probably much more work & money than I'm willing to put in to it. It's always nice to hear from a fellow 82 owner!!

Thanks again...Brian
