Hello,
Another issue in the continuing saga of working on my mid-year 1969 Vette.
As a preface I have replaced the actuator canister, both actuator relays and all hoses pertaining to headlights and wiper door. There were a lot of issues related to these components that necessitated repair. One pet peeve was the wrong diameter in EVERY kit I looked at regarding the headlight relay to vacuum cans hoses at each headlight. Every kit has hoses to large for the application. Everything works splendidly now except for the wiper door closing while the passenger wiper is still lowering.
My question is what can I do to resolve this issue? I have looked on the net and have just come away more confused by what I have read.
Please tell me that it is a simple remedy!
I have had near nervous breakdowns in dealing with the correct actuator can and mounting bolts, hose sizes, and incorrect routing of hoses that were already on the car. Another fun aspect was finding the correct weather stripping, early mid or late production. My car is a mix of early and mid and late components!!!
If I can remedy the wiper door closing to soon I will be at peace with the world,
With Regards,
Mike

A couple suggestions. Pull the wiper arm off the shaft and reposition it. If it worked well before the hose change, you may have the other problem. That is, under the right side of the door is a vaccume relay. If it is the same as my 72', it has three rubber lines connected to it. There is a type of switch/vaccume shut off, that when the wipers "PARK" it activates the switch and closes the door. If the switch is bad, it allows vaccume to stay activated when wiper switch inside the car has been shut off, and allows the door to close prematurely. "IF" the system is the same as mine. You will need to remove the Door, and the Grill next to it to access the critter.
This is the control valve under the right side wiper arm that doesn't let the door close before the arm is parked.

Mike, I sent ya some vacuum info via email. What you would be interested in would be the stuff at the very end, which covers the wiper door system.

F4 Gary,
Yes,
Only two choices, a cheap and a quality relay, both the same design externally.

A picture of an obviously faulty wiper arm stop relay. Not in picture view is the fact that the head of relay is completely gone.
I want again to thank all for the informative and helpful responses to my post. the help has been invaluable!
