Iam trying to find out if the "Stingray" emblem on my '72 fenders originally had black paint on the outside edges. All the replacement ones seem to, even the ones that are advertised as "correct". Mine do not have the paint, and all the ones I have seen from 69-73 are completely chrome. Anyone know?

According to our Corvette Restoration Guide 1968 - 1982 - Yes, they have black on the outside edged.
Quote: "Both fenders reading "Stingray" above their grills. The emblems are chrome with a thin stepped edge that surrounds each letter and is painted black."
Our 69 is like that.

Hey, thanks alot for that quick reply. I do like the look of all chrome better, but I guess if I want it right I'll settle for the real deal.
