All,
I have seen several great ideas for removing the front nose emblem on my 71 (fishing line, etc) but can someone tell me exactly what holds the emblem in place (2 posts, glue, what?) and how do you get to it? I have purchased a new emblem but the two pins on the back of it need some kinda fasterner that I'm not familiar with and it came with nothing!!
Any help would be apprecited, hope I picked the right forum
Thanks in advance

Bob the emblem is held on with two speed nuts, reach up behind the front licence plate, with a 1/4 drive ratchet and 3/8 or 7/16 deep socket (I have had both sizes) or you can use a wrench. Turn counter clockwise to remove. You may have to carefully tap the studs up tap one side then go to the other side, the emblem needs to be remove evenly and installed evenly.

If there is no studs with nuts, the it has been replaced, and probably 2 side tape or weather strip glue holding it on. As for the speed nuts, where you bought the emblem will have them (you are sure they are not in the package) or you can go to your local Auto Body supply store they will have them there.
DON"T spray any penetrating fluid as it will soak into the fiberglass through the emblem pin holes.
Let me know what you find

You can also get to the emblem from the top, with the hood open.
The "speed nuts" are designed to make their own threads on the pins when you install them on the emblem. You prolly noticed the new emblem doesn't have any threads on it, and that's why....the nuts will cut the threads as you thread them on.
I would suggest you go ahead and thread the nuts on first, before installing the emblem on the car. This way, you won't have any problems getting them to start on the pins, while trying to hold the emblem down with one hand, and turning a wrench/socket from underneath with your other hand.
