I just purchased a 74 L-82 and one of the only pieces that needs replaced is the grille center piece. I am having a difficult time trying to track one down that's not broken or damaged. If someone has one or knows of one that's not damaged (I don't care if it requires paint) - please let me know. Thanks, Bill

Try Vette products #(248)693-9715. They may have one but it won't be cheap. Keep checking Ebay.

I have been asked numerous times for the 73-74 center grill and have had no luck in locating one. Most of them hit the trash at the dealer because most states require a front license plate. Look to pay several hundred dollars for a good one when you find it.

I recently bought a 74 and it has the center grille. Now 2 questions. DO I have to remove it to put a front license plate bracket on? And I know all 3 grille pieces should be black and I am going to repaint them should they be gloss or satin or flat or should they be powder coated? Noone makes the center grille new anymore? Is there a pretty big demand for them as I might consider reproducing them if there was enough demand.

Yes, you will have to remove the center grille to install the license plate bracket. That is how mine became available. They are extremely rare, so you would have no trouble getting rid of it obviously. My entire grille is flat black but I'm not sure if that is how it came from the factory. Bill

Look for a second set of mounting points for the center grill. On my '70 there is a grill piece mounted behind the plate (and I'd guess the same for '71-'72s also). I've talked to a few other '70 owners who have decided to pull the front plate and moved the center grill forward to line up more evenly with the side grills.
