I really like the look of the 80+ style bumper with the spoiler, and want to do that to my 79 eventually. I saw they make 80s style bumpers that will bolt on to 74-79s:

But I am also curious about the indy style spoiler that I can put on my stock 79 bumper:

Sorry for the bad pic ^
Does anyone have a good picture of the ACI indy spoiler on the 79 style bumper? I'd love to see what it looks like!
Thanks

The optional spoiler for '79 was the same as the one used on the '78 pace cars.

Hrm. Do you happen to have a pic from the back? I'm interested in seeing how it blends into the rounded bumper of the '79.
Thanks

nm I found it, and it looks awesome. I'll probably just go with that. Thanks!

I'm an 80-82 style bumper kinda guy. Mine are molded in to the body. Here is a pic (sort of) from the rear.
I like the Indy spoiler too but I ran into a smokin deal on my rear bumper. ($70.00 lights included at Bloomington Gold one year).

It doesn't blend. It's an add on, same as the pace cars. Ditto for the PC front spoiler -- add on.

I agree with tux, much perfer the integrated spoiler of the `80-82. indy looks like it was an afterthought. but it is a personal preference.
I'd say go with the 80 style bumper. If you get an aftermarket 78 spoiler it might be better then an original. The original 78 spoilers were not very smooth, kinda had a bad wave to them but the amount of wave did vary between spoilers. I don't think you will have that problem with the 80 style bumper. Heres some pics from my Pace Car which is factory original spoiler.

Mark is right if you go with anything other than glass. If you go with an ACI spoiler it will be glass and it will be fine. I think that they both look good.
Another plus with the newer ACI glass products will be installation. I would almost bet that they are now being installed with Automotive grade double face tape. That would basically mean paint it and literally stick it on. That is definately a plus if you are looking at saving some time and $$$$$.

I was thinking about that with the indy spoiler. Much cheaper to paint, and with the new foam tapes I know you can hold almost anything on. So less to worry about with drilling, etc.
It seems like most prefer the 80+ style tho. I dunno yet. We'll see :)
Thanks guys!
