I just put a new set of these guys on tonight.  The old ones had a hole where the shock stud poked through, but I think that may have occurred inadvertently over time.  I have not poked a hole for the stud to go through in the new ones - is that "correct"?

These are in the engine compartment, hence my choice of forums.  Sorry if that wasn't the correct one!

I have a '78 and I replaced those same flaps.  For my car, there was no hole for the shock stud/tower.  The flap just rides on top, but yours may be different.

No holes in the flaps.
The "wings" on the end are supposed to be folded into the a-arm. Wink

My biggest problem was to get those Angry push pins to go through the holes on the frame.  I had to use a drill bit, but NOT will the drill.  I just used the bit, twirled it and ran it up and down a little just to open the hole in the frame a scootch (NOT scotch..that is for drinking).
Breast of luck (oops...dad-gumed evil twin) BEST of luck to you!LOL

Dave, above is picture from my project. The shocks don't go thru it. I tucked them inside of the upper control arms (A arm). I resized the picture so it looks weird.

David, I also had problems getting the push pins into the inner fender fiberglass, so I used a C-clamp with a small socket on the outside fender area to allow for the long stem. I just tightened on the C-clamp to seat those goofy buggers..............eboEvil Smile taught me that!Wink
