Ok since I have owened my 70 vert, the passenger power window skips on the way up...I can assume the motor is ok and probably have a stripped gear..... was never a big deal because its a vert and I ONLY drive it on the nicest days....but....I guess its just time to get the last few things right. I took off the door panel and wow are things pretty tight in there.....I would like to pull the regulator out and check everything and Hopefully I have a simple (cheap) repair!!?? also While its apart I am conscidering a passenger side rear view mirror, as I under stand it thay where available as a dealer installed option, so this should not be detract from the car as far as value in conscerened ...and I think it will look better ( balenced) and will get rid of that anoying blind spot. Anybody pulled a power window unit out and have some good tricks to share....kinda looks like it will be tricky....Never worked on one before, Thanks!

Yes, it's a tight fit. You can take the regulator loose to move things around if you wish. The regulator is held in with rivits, which can be replaced with 1/4 dia bolts and nuts. Make sure they are not too long or they will hit something when the window is operated.
It is difficult to realign the window, so be sure to mark everything you take apart. You can get the motor out, but the skipping will problably be the the teeth on the window regulator.
The mirror can be bought aftermarket from several supplier, and is not too hard to put on the door. Some designs do not require even removing the door panel. The can be held on with capture nuts.

If you buy a p/s mirror, get the mounting kit for it. Should be a mounting diagram in it and everything you need to mount it.

The advice about the window is right on. It is almost always the big gear, which can be replaced. My only extra advice is that the regulator assembly is spring loaded, and has a place to put a bolt to keep the tension under control so it doesn't whack you as you take it apart.
The correct dealer installed passenger mirrors come with rubber barrel nuts that just push in.

My suggestion for the window regulator is to purchase a new assembly complete less the motor (if your motor is OK) and don't for get to order the motor back holder plate, it comes seperately in most. It looks tough but really isn't... replace it with the regulator in the down position....take your time, and as stated above before you loosen any bolt on the door panel MARK THEM I use a little paint around them so that they go back in the exact location, most of the time you will not have to reailgn the window.

As for the mirror, the mirror kit should have the mounting base, 2 well nuts, a black seal, and the mirror is installed from the outside. The door has a sub frame along the top inside that will NOT allow you to access any nuts from the inside...if you are planning on using bolt and nuts...if you install the mirror in its proper spot.
NOTE: the best way to install the mirror is to have someone to hold the mirror lightly where it should go onto the door.
While you are sitting in the driver's seat, have your mirror holder person, with a piece of masking tape have them mark the area, remove the mirror, then with more masking tape apply more tape to the door bigger than the base of the mirror.
Now again get into the driver's seat and have them hold the mirror in the spot and mark around the base with a pencil on the masking tape where the mirror will sit. Don't just measure the driver's mirror location and transfer that measurement, you may not be able to adjust the mirror in enough to see. You can take this measurement and use it to give you an approximate guide, but make sure that you can adjust the passenger mirror to see out the back. Next leave the tape there and take the mounting base and place it the area that was penciled around before. Mark your holes.....measure, measure, measure. With the masking tape there it will help to stop the fiberglass from splintering when you drill your holes, use a small bit first and work your way drill slowly up to the proper size for the well nuts... don't go to big. the support is in the door about I think 1" so don't drill into the steel support (no need).
Important... Sometimes screw are too long...because of inside support... before you put the well nuts in MAKE sure that the screws supplied will not bottom out onto the inside support, if they do bottom out you will have to shorten them, if you don't when you attach the mirror the well nuts will start to pull out and the mirror will not fasten down tight....Big problem then!!!
I believe that Larry can get you everthing you need.
Hope this helps
John
