Check this out:

It is amazing how these inner body frames can rust out. If there is anyway you can spray some rust killer and preventative chemicals up in the rocker channel, A and B Pillar, and around the windshield....DO IT!

You don't want to have to do what I am doing to this otherwise super nice 70 Convertible. You really don't want to have to pay for anybody to do this for you either. A job like this would cost mega bucks!

Try my main web page

www.mcspeed.homestead.com

Then click on the 70 Vette link at the lower left.

You really need to take the rust area serious on your car. Keep an eye on my web page, and I will document more of seperating the bird cage. I just came in from the shop a few minutes ago. I have now cut the floor and started popping the rivets holding the rocker covers down.

As soon as I can get the windshield out, I will be able to buzz along between the lower windshield frame and the firewall and get it seperated. Then I will peel the rockers back. Finally, I will remove the rear door jambs, then pop all the support rivets and break the bird cage free from what is left of the body.

Good luck on your project!
