I have painted t-tops that are no longer usuable because the horses chewed up a part of my driver side 80. Anyways i am looking at a one piece top from astrotops , and was wondering if this product is as good as they make themselfs sound ? http://www.astrotops.com/68_82tops.html Thanks for any advice. |smile|

Your car was attacked by wild horses, what a shame.
There was a string posted a while ago about the Astro Tops.
The main thing that I remember was that the people that had them didn’t like them.
They didn’t fit behind the seat like the vendor stated.
I had thought about getting one at one time, but with all the negative stuff I have heard, I changed my mind.
Happy Holidays!

When I bought my 73 the PO gave me one. It was old, the chrome was coming off the plastic trim, and the seals were shot. I liked the extra head room but If I wanted to take it off I never had enough room behind the seats to stow it. If I had the money I would get glass T-tops but thats not in my current budget. |laugh|
I wouldn't mined having a new one if they ever put them on sale. I think the design of our T-tops is really bad for leaks anyway but then again, I have never owned a car with T-tops that didn't leak. |ohwell|

I bought the one piece Astro top for my 81 they IMHO are junk, here's why I think this, they are molded from a rather thin very easy to scratch "plastic" it doesn't look too bad on the car from the outside but the knobs that hold it on are very cheesy looking and just double side tape to the car, or did with mine.
At the time I thought it was a cheaper out to glass tops and liked the one piece idea,
My tastes have changed and I like the fiberglass tops over glass now for personal reasons.
Bottom line Astro tops are not worth the money.
Cheers, P.

_______________ Well, thats interesting,Brian.I'm on my 2nd Vette in 3 yrs(cuz the 1st ones totalled),and I havent noticed any t-top leaks-but I havent had the '79 out in the weather-I washed it though. The '77 had a leak around the rear window when it was sprayed. On the Astro Tops,I just quickly looked at their site and didnt notice what the pricing was...it sounded like a good idea,& I suppose it could be if done rite. But thats only if you can put the behind the seat of a '79! |idea| |saluteflag|

AStro tops are definatly not good quality, buy the real thing. I have had 6 t-top c-3 cars and not one leaked inless you shot water under the side window seals when washing the car.
