I have painted over the last 10 yrs five cars using single stage Centari, good paint, very forgiving easy to do and gives nice results.Yesterday,Sunday,I did my first base coat/clear coat paint job.I now know why the entire world uses this method.Easier to use than the centari for me at least.A freind with experience was with me to lend advise and help hang parts as I painted. At one point I hit the fresh paint with the paint cup,all we did was wait 10 minutes lightly sand out the scare and re shot the spot!Three coats of color and three of clear.Anyone can do this bc/cc.

Just got done with ALL THE BLOCKING and finish sanding on my 76. BC/CC going on tomorrow. I'm not shooting it myself but, a good paint man is. He has three cup guns that are almost brand new still in the box and says he will probably never go back to single stage.

Hey what do you do with the fiberglass after you take off the old paint. I am planning to have my body soda blasted and I want to prep the car before I paint but dont know what to do?

Hey gents, I put two coats of Gel Coat down and sanded one off, no imperfections  the body looks like glass, it was a smart thing to do, now that I see the finished product.. WOW ..See below..Terry

Good job. Yeh it's not the most fun to do but, well worth it in the long run. My body & paint man shot an epoxy sealer coat over the new gel coat once I got the car to him before we even started to put primer on. The primer went on one hour after the epoxy sealer. He claims it gives a better adherence for the primer and hence a better adherence for the paint. It also creates a base to know in the future, God forbid, should he ever have to go back a repair something do to an accident paint damage do to keying or some other vandalism act. After that we put down 3 coats of primer and hand blocked the whole car. Then two more fine coats of primer and finish sanded it by hand with 320 grit. SMOOOTH as a Babies behind. I get to go see the finished paint today! Can't wait.

Will do Dave. I will be going over today to put the tail, and marker lights back in. I may get rocker covers on as well as the side mirrors if I have time. Then if it isn't raining I plan on DRIVING IT HOME....

Can't wait. I will get some pics and post them once it is back safe and sound.
