I have a 1972 454. The hood seems to turn up on the corners slightly, down at the end next to the headligts. The center of the hood fits flush and seems ok. Can anybody tell me what might be the problem. Is the hood just a poorly manufactured hood, or is it the excessive heat from the big block engine that causes the hood to turn up on the ends. (could this be a reproduction hood, if so how can I tell) Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jimmie

Jimmie,
There were pretty sloppy tolerances on these hoods as they were made. Short of a fire, I don't think the big block heat is the problem (although I've always wondered why the nostrils were not opened to let heat out). My drivers side/windshield corner sits up 1/8" higher than the other 3 corners. Every professional that I've shown it to has told me to count my blessings that it's as good a fit as it is!
