I thought I read somewhere the cost for soda blast would be closer to $400. Is there some extras you've got thrown in like towing or stripping the body of emblems,tail lights etc. Is your body going to be on a rolling chassis?
I figure it's a 4 hr job to blast it, (with out any prep work)
If it's that inexpensive, I'm going to look into having my '38 Pontiac stripped. It hasn't been treated to paint in over 25 years, but it's a pretty good "25 footer".

Autom8r, nice car! I had a 38 plymouth around 25 yrs ago. Wasn't near as nice as yours, just a beater to goof around with. Had a straight 8 flat head.
As for the 4 hrs for soda blast. I have the unfortunate task of sand blasting truck frames every spring (at work). I figure I could cover the same area as a corvette in around 2 hrs,,, but thats using black beauty. But thats to harsh for a corvette.
After looking at the video of them doing a 65 vette,,, make that 6 to 8 hrs , With no prep work (removing emblems/ chrome, etc)
I had a ZZ-4 Chev engine in the Pontiac when the picture was shot. That old car does NOT need 355 HP. I swapped the L-82 from my Vette in and dropped the ZZ-4 into the '78, much better combination....

I got an answer from a bodyshop/ painting forum. the guy said he just did a 66 with 4 coats of paint. Took 4 hrs and $600 bucks.I think his signiture was from new mexico, so adjust for wage and price differences. The car was driveable, so no labor cost to move it around or tow to shop.
He advised if only 1 coat of paint , do a chemical strip. Said the soda blast is a mess, stuff gets in everywhere. Make sure the guy blasting knows what he's doing,,,,, could do damage.
the body is easily movable, its on a doly, and the only cost for getting it to a shop will be the gas in my truck, I have a large trailor I can borrow. I have a couple of weeks to decide still since Im pulling the rest of the hardware off of the body and doors right now.
