Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Bob:
My best advice to you is contact GM's customer assistance center via the web and request a copy of their restoration package. It is year specific and offers such information as all of the options available on your specific year and what the associated codes are. Alot of technical information is contained in this package specific to your Vette.
It comes from MSX, here in Detroit. I got mine last year, and I have found it to be very informative. There are other sites on the web that I'm sure others are going to point you to to find out your answer on the D20 question quickly, but I still suggest you give GM a holler - you won't regret it, and the price is right!
Actually the best experience I ever had dealing with GM!

I was under the impression that the only plate on the door jam was the trim plate which gives color options. I just looked through my reference books and see nothing with a D20. Actually nothing with a D at all. The paint trim codes are all numbers , no letters.

Ok, Scot:
I e-mailed GM CAC a couple times before I ordered the package, but they were really easy to deal with. You should have gotten a file number of some sort that you could refer back to when the order was placed. If you still have that you should be able to e-mail CAC with that reference number in your message line, explain that you haven't received your package, and expect a quick response. They may have lost the order. Remember, they are human, but it was, like I say, the best experience dealing with GM I have ever had.
Bob:
Is there some way you can get a quality picture to post to the site? I think you have us all confused. Remember, a picture's worth a thousand words.

I just been told from another member here. That number is when your car is born.
I have a 72 whit #D23 Prod. started Aug 71 (A) Sep (B) and so on Prod ended in July 72.
If they started prod, for 73 in aug your car is probably born Nov20
