Can someone please tell me how many body mount cushions there are on the car (1977).  Do all 4 body mounts have upper and lower cushions on them or only certain body mounts?  Thanks to all for your help!Smile

68-82's have 4 mounts per side. (8 total)

#1 mount is just aft the front wheel were the firewall meets the frame
#2 mount is behind the interior kick panel
#3 mount is just in front of the rear tire behind the access plate in the wheelwell.
#4 mount is aft of the rear wheel.

and there are upper and lower cushions on each mount.
Hope this helps.

Were the original body mount "cushions" made out of aluminum, or are the disks that I received when I ordered a body-mount replacement kit just spacers for rubber inserts?

Just the aluminum spacers were used from 68-72. The rubber body mounts came on the 73's. many have changed the older cars to the rubber mounts for the softer ride. The rubber helps eliminate some of the road noise caused by vibration.

Thanks Brian! I figured those metal spacers were just old technology!Thumbs%20Down

Vette(s): 78 White/Oyster all original. Purchased from original owner

Just wanted to know who else is thinking about changing their body mounts.   My situation is that the bolts are all rusted.  The only way to change them is to cut them out.  The situation is that the ones in location 2 and 3 are hard to get to .  I've checked it several times and it looks like I will have to cut a peel a section of metal to the out side of each location.  This metal is covered by the chrome outer piece.

Does anyone know of a better way to cut these mounts out?

Tom

I cut mine from the top. It is very tite and takes a while but it can be done without damaging anything else around it. Just grind off the heads of the bolts with a air grinder. Then the body will lift off and you can work on the rest of the bolt. Redwingvette2007-03-09 10:19:18
