Vette(s): My 1974 Vette sold last August 2014. I am still willing to show up to events and local gatherings if anything happening No new vette yet.

hi I am Jeremy.

Does anyone know of any body shops in New Jersey or surrounding area?  I am restoring my '74 vette and need to just get car repainted with factory color. i am also replacing front bumper. i have the new one and all the mounting hardware. i just can't seem to find anybody to go to. All of the body shops i have gone to just do insurance jobs.  One guy told me he won't do the paintjob because he charges so much no one wants them from him so he gave up on doing them.

Any help or suggestions you all come up with would be more than i have at the moment and I thank you very much.

Jeremy H.

Vette(s): 1974, 454 with 4 on the floor, matching numbers.

Jeremy,

Try Alex & Leo's @ 1-973-7460855 in Montclair NJ. I've seen their work, and can honestly say it's top notch. There is a Corvette shop in Mine Hill NJ called Madson, 1-973-366-3877. He does a good job painting, but be warned, he's expensive, and I would not let him do any mechanical repairs. The best price given to me was from New York Motor in Newark NJ 1-973-344-4311. They do an excellent job, and your car is safe (Newark)

Don't know of any body shops, but I have to agree on the "Expensive" part! It is worth the extra cash to get it done right. I paid $3000 for my paint in '97, at a place that was recommended by some other 'Vette club members. Problem was, they only had touch-up work done, not complete paint-jobs. Plus, the guy at the shop told me they didn't do many full paint jobs either, mostly ins. stuff. I also had another estimate from a friend of mine that owns a high-end body shop, and he quoted $5000, and told me it would take at least 6 months, if I wanted it done right. I should have listened!
I've had my car painted FIVE TIMES now, by the $3000 guy. It's still not right, and I gave up! I'm saving the cash now to get it done again, by a REAL paint shop!
Moral of this long-winded story? Find a good place, and get references from other 'Vette cusomers.
Good luck with your search!

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!
Atlas Body Shop in Akron Oh.  Long way to go, but worth it.  They have done several national shows winning restorations on other type of cars, including Model T's.    The owner has a C2.   They are honest, good people.
