Does your car not have a support at all? I don't see one in any of the pics.

Not my car, but I did find this pic stored on my 'puter. The fender is modified to allow clearance for the hood hinges, and the hood support, in that area. The support bolts to the lower/inner fender panel.

So there is a portion of the fender lip missing. In the pics it appears that it was cut...not broken. At any rate, the best way to correct it would be to build it up with 'glass, or get a section of a fender from another car and graft it on. Might take a little finesse to make it look right, but it can be done.
