The nice thing about working with fiberglas is you can cut or sand away your mistakes.

It is important to rough up the edge that remains so the new glass has something to bite into.

To fill in a flat area like you are talking about, you need a backing board to lay the fiberglass cloth over like a mold. The easiest way is to wrap wax paper around some cardboard and tape the cardboard to the back side of the panel you want to fix. You can even make a flange at the bottom if you need one. Use lots of tape to hold everything in place. Then layer the glass cloth/resin over the mold you just made, and let it set up. Remove the cardboard and cut/file the glass to its final shape. Joe
