All,

I want to get to my build sheet and have looked everywhere but the dreaded "top of the fuel tank"! Can anyone let me know what's involved in getting to the tank. Obviously the spare tire assembly, upper and lower must be removed but can I get to the sticker by removing the fuel tank and what's involved with that task.

Thanks in advance, what an awesome website

Bob

Bob,

Before you go through the trouble of dropping the tank, you should be able to move the rubber boot (around the filler neck) enough to take a peak on either side of the tank.  Mine was on the top of the gas tank on the driver's side.

Also, from under the car, you can reach your hand up over the tank to feel if the sheet is there.  Please resist the urge to pull on it, it is EXTREMELY fragile.

As for removing the (empty) tank, you have to remove the upper & lower spare tire wells & the exhaust.  The exhaust can be moved, but pulling it is easier.  From there, just unplug it ftom the harness & unblot the straps.  Don't try to pull the straps out, the tank sticker may be over the top of them.

Then with some wiggling, remove the entire assmebly.  I did mine on a lift, but it can be done on jack stands.

Good luck,
Anthony

Be prepared to be disappointed.  The sticker may or may not be there after all this time.  If something is there, it may be incomplete or illegible.

Good luck.

I was dissappointed by mine.  It looks like there is some new fuel line and clamps, so the previous owners may have beaten me to it...
