I am thinking I have read in a past issue of Corvette Fever that Non-CE 82's can be converted to a hatchback. I believe the shape of the back windows are identical but I could be wrong. I think anyone who wants to do this would have figured out how to modify the window to receive the hinges and locking mechanism when the window is secured. Bottom line...if the windows are identical the weatherproofing for the hatchback and fixed rear window should be the same. Verify first before you drop $200+ dollars only to find out this is not the case. Good luck.

Cars & concepts did build a conversion kit that put what I will call an 82 CE rear hatch glass on any vette with the 78-82 rear window,
This kit is long gone since the 82 hatch glass is no longer made , saw one pass thru ebay a couple years ago for 2000.00 and last year someone was parting out a CE and was asking 600.00 for the rear glass, a steal...the rear hatch glass is built by custom order and can easily cost 1500-2500 depending on which glass shop you get it thru most can't get it, just no hugh demand for one year of one car.
the cars & concepts kit did use the same GM hardware & glass according to their ad, however I saw one once that was either owner modified or was not factory hardware,
Lastly according to things I've read only the special 82 CE received this hatch however, again I have seen at least 3 82's non CE with hatch rear glass one did turn out to simply be a repainted CE,
GM does weird things I can see a non CE 82 coming from the factory with a hatch.
Cheers,
P.
