I want to start putting parts back on my 72 but before I do this I would like to clean up the front light chrome trim. What products do you use to clean chrome and does anyone use a buffing wheel and a compound. The front parking light assemblies are the only things I havent bought new and at around $1300 for the pair I think they will just clean up fine!! Thanks in advance.

the good thing is there are no pits in these parts! I used to use the semi chrome but I havent seen that in years. wonder if auto zone or advanced auto would have that. I will be using a buffing wheel on my wire wheel stand.
Thanks Ebo

I have used a variety of polishes but simichrome is a good one. Try a local Harley shop, they should have it.
I'm sure they will have Mothers or Mequires. I just lke the thicker stuff, it tends to stay in place better.

Rodney is the front light parts you want to clean aluminum? There are some really good spray style cleaners out there that work very good..I am sure Laugermans would have some good chrome cleaner also..I will call a fatboy and ask him what he uses on chrome.

Ok the fatboy says he used Ace it..aceitpolish.com ..he let me use that stuff on my bumpers when I first got it..he is all about chrome everything..I haven't put anything on the chrome since then and they still repel fingerprints..really nest stuff..it took out the exhaust spots on the rear ones in one try..they have it at the biker show here but I am not sure if Laugermans would carry it or not..if you get any online let me know since I need a bottle also..could get 2 cheaper than 1..and you won't use all that much..fatboy has had the same bottle since last years biker show..he said he has only used it twice..hasn't needed another coat..

Rich, We will give it a try. I just ordered 2, 6oz bottles. I'll let you know when it gets here. It was only 27 for 2 bottles. It says its not a wax or silicone which is a good thing. Also can be used on other things as well. Thanks for the tip.

hmmm wonder if it removes Red Sharpy marks from fiberglass.....
ebo

Dan actually on the factory alum vette wheels I used Wenko polish on a Foose powerball to remove all the clearcoat.
I use Zaino on them and on the Dale Jr. chrome rims on the Burb.
