Hello everyone, I have a question regarding rechroming bumpers. The original rear bumpers on my 70 are really in need of a rechrome. I am considering doing an exchange. I saw in the NCRS driveline a guy that offers to take your old bumpers and send you another set of already rechomed bumpers. My first question is there likely to be a fit issue? Wondering if anyone has any comments on this. Thanks in advance.... My problem is I hate waiting for anything and it takes months for a rechrome I am told.

Personally I would have my own original set rechroimed ...
I've been the route of cheap replacements (bumper boys) and NEVER AGAIN....

Yeah, I saw Bumper Boyz online and got the feeling I should stay clear. I suppose I should just wait until winter and get originals rechromed. Unless anyone has done an exchange with someone and been pleased. Let me know. Thanks.
I'd also like to know of a source for good bumpers, mine aren't worth rechroming, some p.o. actually drilled a couple of holes in them.
I was lucky enough to latch onto a NOS front several years ago, so I have 2 good front bumpers.

Thanks for the advice about not driving with the bumpers off the car. I don't think I would because it would look awful but also don't want to compromise the fiberglass. My rear drivers side bumper has a hole that is filled with a bolt from a CB antenna I assume. Can't the person who does the rechrome fill and make it look like the hole was never there? That would be good to know because if not I may have to buy new. I have been told that the finish on new bumpers isn't as nice as on rechromed. It's always somethin....

I'd check around locally for re-chrome. Local street rodders usually know who in your area does good work, they chrome everything. Chrome shops can fill holes no problem.
This company is suppose to be excellent, they have been on my classic car TV show:
