Since I am partially under way with getting the car back into shape but at the same time I don't want to create a garage queen either. I want to enjoy driving the car. Here is what I was thinking about doing.
1. Stripe off the old paint and repair any damaged glass.
2. I don't want to take every little thing apart since the car is pretty solid underneath.
3. Tape off the chrome where it is not close to painted surfaces and remove the rest which is not much.
4. Cover all the glass.
5. Remove small items like antenna and side marker lights.
6. Remove the door handles and key lock.
7. Remove the Stingray script on the front sides. (What is the best way to get these off along with the Corvette enblem up front?)
8. Remove the rockers. Right side came off good but cant get a wrench on the other side.
9. Align the doors better. I think I need either new hinges or pins.
Would this be alright to be a cruiser?

The key is getting it to where you can be happy with it. I've never been involved with a paint job (and I hope I don't have to be!
), so I can't offer too much, but I do remember seeing a thread talking about getting the Stingray emblems off with fishing line. Just work it behind to get between the emblem glue and the body. It works like floss!

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Use a plastic putty knife and emblem remover to remove script - work slow dont pry

The fishing line works great and you won't have to worry about snapping the emblems during removal. Lotaz of guys use this method to rem the BSM off of the newer carz without damage to the paint. The nose emblem has nuts on the underneath side to come of 1st.

door handles are going to be a pain to remove and reinstall. if you
pull the door latch out you can get to the front nut with a 1/4 drive
socket and an extension. rear nut on an angle towards door frame and
you have to get a wrench in the opening on the side. hard to get that
one back on unless you have small hands to get in there. one main
problem is once you get your hand in you can't see what you are doing.
and big hands have hard time getting around in there.
