I need to adjust the driver's side door to bring the back edge up about a 1/2 inch.  Is the door side or the body side of the hinges adjustable?

Hummm...  I need to do the same thing on my passenger door as well as the hood (the guy who installed my radiator didn't put the hood back on the lines).

I would think that both can be adjusted.  1/2" seems like quite a bit. You door closes right now ?

Actually, both adjust.

The hinge on the post will allow some up and down, and in and out.  This will raise or drop the front edge of the door.  If you change one in or out, the back of the door will raise or fall, with the front in the same place.  You also adjust the gaps at the front and rear of the doors.

The adjustment on the door itself allow the door to move inward toward the center of the car, or back out away from the enter.  This allow the door to tilt in or out top and bottom, and line up with the body.

A 1/2" adjustment is quite alot. I would look at the hinge pins and bushings, before making any adjustments. And the worst case is rusted hinge piller.
