Been going crazy with this, got a gap that is about the same size on both sides. The original shims are still on the car. The previous owner said he removed the doors to take all the paint off the skins and they wouldn't line up when he put them back on. Any ideas? I took one of the doors off and tried to manually line it up, to no avail... Here's a couple pics. THANKS!

Currently undergoing a frame-off resto. and modifications.YEEHAW!!!
One possibility is that you need new body mounts. The mount shims is what lines up the body.
I've never seen a gap this extreme before, but that's what I'd check first.

Would putting in new front mounts require lifting the entire body? Doing a full frame-off for a first project car is not exactly something to look forward to...

the shims are still there, I believe the door was taken off on the door side, leaving the hinges and shims still on. The upper fenders also sit too far from the windshield(about 1/2" gap from the chrome). Looks like it might've been in some accident and whomever re-bonded them didn't do it right. Another big part to this project.

Looks very familiiar, my car is in about the exact same place right now, only I have all new body mounts on the car. I will post some pictures when I get the chance. I got the gaps to not look too bad by messing with the doors and dividing up the gap front to back. I will probably fill in the gaps a little with some new fiberglass.
