The glass IS different, afaik. The convertible glass is more angled at the rear edge, compared to the coupes, if I remember right.

Confused I have "astro Ventilation" windows on my 72'. I was told they were on the table when they put them in, so thats what I got.  Convertables DO NOT have Astro Ventilation.  I also have a Hard Top. If the windows are adjusted to fit/water and air, on the rag top, they do not fit well on the Hard top.  Go Figure!  Quality Control was not important in the 70's.

Interesting.  I've wondered this about my '74 as well.  Do the same rules apply?

Either way (72 or 74), how can you tell the difference between the two windows (in the case of trying to buy on e-bay, etc)?  My '74's windows are original as far as I know (dates match) and are "Astro Ventilation."  I thought the vents on the back deck were the rear part of that "system"

Ive done some checking and it appears that Convertibles that are non ac cars did have a system called astro ventilation. I cut and pasted one persons description of how it worked. Can anyone confirm this to be correct? I do know that the glass on my doors had the original retainers on them so I am pretty sure the glass was original. The vents in the back deck area does have an actuator that a vacuum hose goes to the heater control area. Below is the description I found: Keep in mind its not my writing!

astro vent

the astro vent is actuated by vacume from the heater temperture wheel. There is a damper on the ceiling of the rear cargo area. thats what the grills are on the rear deck just in front of the gas cap. When the temp is set to cold the vent opens allowing fresh air in from the front fresh air dampers through the passenger compartment and out the vents in the rear.
when the temperture wheel is moved to increase heater temperture the vent in the rear closes so the heat stays inside.
