What kind of paint? House paint?
If it's not to old I'd try some "Prep Solve" pre cleaner for body work.

You may be able to use seam sealer depending on where the door skin is loose. You'd have to be able to access the area with a caulking gun. They sell it in Autozone. LukesVette 2008-11-01 12:42:02

For good plyable bonding, fast cure windshield urethene...you can get it at auto body supply or go to your local automotive glass installer, he may even throw a slick of it on for you.
Try hot water maybe it is laytex paint...
GOO BE GONE will work...
autobody supply wash reducers
last resort...if not Good fast dry automotive paint thinners used lightly will remove the paint, don't rub the area wipe it once, and right away then wipe with a dry rag.

I would use fiberglass resin to secure the door. Mix it like you would for a glass repair, but then just use the resin.
Granted this is a bit messy, but good
You could go the pricy but much neater way and go to a good body supply house and get the epoxy 2 part adhesive for bonding fiberglass and sheet mold panels on to vehicles. Many new cars use this. It is stronger than the fiberglass itself. Once mixed it is like using putty.
