All,

Just pulled my girl out of storage and I have a problem. One headlight opens the other will not, now the one thats open will not close. I thought after driving for awhile they would open/close but no luck. I know you C3 lovers can help me out

Thanks in advance

Bob

Hey Bob,
Give this a try;
Start the engine & let it run for a few minutes. Rev it a few times.
Turn on the headlights.
Leave them on & shut off the engine.
Restart the engine with headlights in "On"  position.

It worked for me once.

Also check out www.docrebuild.com and search for "droopy headlamps."

Check all the vacume line's to the cans and under the dash at the switch. I knocked a hose off at the headlight switch and same thing happened. Does sound like a vacume problem though. Maybe a critter ate a hole in the hose line some where?
Good luck!

The headlight vacuum system on a C3 is one of the great modern Gordian knots of our time. What were they thinking? I had the same problem and found a line had slipped off one of the vacuum canisters. The headligts would open, but they would not close. My vacuum system had become brittle and all the lines were stiff and had begun to split on the ends. I bought a vacuum line replacement kit and replaced them one at at time. It is really pretty easy to do as all the lines are color coded. Solved the problem, light work just fine. Although, there is always this moment of trepidation...will they or won't they...one of the joys of owning a C3... sundew2009-04-28 10:07:49

There is no substitute for low end torque!

I agree, check all the vacuum lines.Thumbs Up  A vacuum diagram will help if you got one.  The hoses get brittle on the ends.
