Well I did it again, hooked my pant leg in the side fender emblem and instead of tearing my pants,  again, the emblem came off. At first I thought I had broken the posts, but after looking at the other side I see no nuts inside the fender. The first question were these glued on with the posts only used for location or am I missing something? It almost looks as if a glue was applied inside the fender with the posts secured inside that glue. What is the best reinstallation method?

Originally, the emblems were installed with double-sided sticky tape. The posts were strictly for positioning, as you thought, tho you could get some speed nuts to put on them if you wanted. The tape will get hard over time, and loose it's stickiness, and it will also shrink up some, which also causes it to loosen.
You can get the correct 3M double-sided sticky tape at an automotive paint supply store. You will have to cut the tape to match the contours of the emblem....that's a pretty slow job, too. A good sharp razor blade , and a lot of patience will help.

I think THIS  is what Joel is talking about, its what I used on my emblems and it works great.  It should be available at your local auto parts store.

Close enough! I think the roll I have has the green protective cover, but it's the same stuff. Pretty dang sticky, too, unless you get yer fingerprints all over it, or drop it in the dert...

We painted outlines around the Jets in the hangers.  If you stayed outside the lines, you would not hit your head. It worked mostly.  I only had one trip to the hospital for a sliced open eye socket. I just did not see that AIM-9 missile fin.Wacko

3M also makes a transfer type adhesive that I have used on several newer car emblem (no mounting pins).  I purchased it from a auto paint store.  No trimming needed other than just cutting out for the pin holes.  Summit has it listed as 3M 8069 but not sure if that is the part number I have used in the past.  Do not think I paid this much for it at the paint store.
