Hi friends - I bought a set of extended race ramps and when I got the vette up there and started to really inspect the frame it looks solid but is showing its age rust wise. I would like to get the rust off and repaint. Any suggestions how to approach this without doing a frame off?

the only true way to get at it is to do frame off, i did mine acid dip, powdercoated looks brand new
i can only think of a body off , i dunno how bad the rust is but specially at those spots that are rust sensative you only can reach with a body off.
and when you have some rust areas and start sandblasting or whatever you will be surprised how and large / deep the rust has eaten away the metal.

You might as well do it the right way. I had a lot of issues when I final;y got around to doing mine. http://hometown.aol.com/bmclau5079/page5.html
Can you give me the ball park cost you had to deal with to have this done?
i had van steel do it all but they did alot of other work also, but in their case it was essentially a one stop shop for everything i was getting done acid dip, powdercoat, rebuilding trailing arms and installing new suspension (vette brakes) all in total about 8 g's

Thanks for the advice - I have heard from several people that I can expect it to start at $5000 - I am going to try an alternative first, I got under there with a powerful light and really all I have is surface rust so I am going to wirebrush it and carefully apply some de-rust chemicals. Then I'll have a rot rod shop finish the job with primer and paint while replacing the body mounts.
