I went with ACI's Tru Flex front bumper. It was easier to "fit" to the car than a fiberglass bumper. True Flex has more give than fiberglass and is supposed to last longer than the OEM urethane bumper. The price on their site for a Tru Flex '75-'79 front bumper is $376 plus $10 boxing fee. http://www.acivette.com/

I found a True-flex on Ebay for $100 less. I hope it's the same thing. I am having to remove all the honeycomb support and rubber bumper reinforcement to make it fit though.

Joanne,
CALL- Contact Wilcox Corvette and they can assist with the Tru Flex bumper covers..
They really require new/different mounting strips to be installed and Wilcox has those also. They have also installed a bunch of them and know what all THAT entails...
IF your original urethane bumper covers are not damaged, they can be removed and subjected to heating using hot water or heat gun by a knowleable body man and they will 'recover' close to their original shape.
On more modern cars with the tupperware bumpers and body parts they do what is termed 'paintless' repairs for dints and such useing application of heat and gently pushing the dints out without damaging the paint..
Urethane has a 'memory' of sorts.
While you have them off, buy new mounting brackets with bolts to reinstall them..
It's challengeing to install them and get the fit good on edges and sides..but it can be done with patience and working with some heat while adjusting and then snugging the bumper covers up.The new bracket strips and hardware help immensely..Cost for front and rear on my 78 C3 was about 190.00 for the bumper cover bracket-supports which come in specific pieces and shapes to go right on.
I don't think ANY of the aftermarket nor the TRU flex( which are the best) are gonna be perfect fit without some 'mechanikin' tweaking and patient installation...
NOT like changing out a tail light lens..:(..Jim

Put fiberglass on my 79 in 1990 and still looks great. no waves or cracks. I once tapped something with the point of the front and repaired it quickly and cheaply. Never regretted getting fiberglass front and rear 25 years ago. Still looks like new.
thanks for in put jim. ordered from ecklers,my wallet is $730 lighter and will still have to pay the custom man (robbers)now the wait to get it here.

I agree with Sarge,,,I installed tru-flex front and rear bumpers on my 76 and they went on perfectly, line up was easy and finish was excellent. They do have "some" flex in that they work well for the bodyman...not much flex when they are on, so don't expect them to have any flex like the original but really it doesn't matter...great product value for the price. If you can shop around, more the better! will try to include a photo of the finished work here...
Cheers !
