Vette(s): 1st vette, my dream car. 1978 coupe with T-tops silver with spoilers front and back
Hi All,
I got a set of glass T-Tops and went to install them today.  The passenger side is okay- a little binding after I got the trim piece around the latch back on after adjusting that side.  But that is not the concern.  My concern is the driver side.
I tried several times to adjust this side loosening all the nuts and screws but the front guide pin will barely fit into the hole and the back receiver pin will not go into the back plate unless you put some major pressure on it while engaging the latch (which takes some muscle by the way).
The back outside corner (where the back pin is) also touches the car.  I thought it might be off center but the front seems to look even compared to the other side and if I were to push the front more toward the middle then the pin in the back would be even more off.
Am I missing something or is there an adjustment trick that will help.
I am just afraid I am putting too much pressure on the glass and will cause it to crack, or it cold be just new weatherstripping that will seat.
Any help, thoughts, opinions, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You stated you had loosened all of the nuts and screws so this probably wont help but did you loosen the screws that hold the front "bullet" pin in place, there is some adjustment side to side in that mechanism.  If nothing else fails, Id try completely removing the ramped irons that engage the "T" bar and see if it fits any better. That will at least give you an idea of where the problem may be.  If these are modern reproduction glass tops, they should certainly fit without the effort you are describing but they WILL NOT fit as well as the originals and are designed to sit up about 1/4 inch on the back side where the tops meet the halo frame at the back  window.
