Anyone have any success with rebuilding headlight actuators... one is reacting very slow. I have it off and not sure to rebuild $20+  or Buy new  $70+

TIA

... I removed the one brace in the middle of the frame by the horn that goes down below the radiator and I could get both actuators out easy enuf.
Parts should be here by tomorrow..

Hey Ray. I had the same problem. Right side would go up to about half way on its own very slowly. I put the kit in and they still work fine. Actually its a piec-o-cake to do. "T"

Most of the time, the problem with the actuators is the seal in the front, where the shaft seals to the can. You should have the seal, and the accordian-styled dust cover. Replacing these two pieces usually takes care of the lazy headlight. If it does not, then the actuator(s) need to be rebuilt/replaced. A friend of mine here locally does rebuild them, and the relays. He also has them replated(gold irridite). He's fairly reasonable on pricing, and I've seen plenty of his work...it's top notch.

Thanks for the info Joel. Got the kit today and will put it in tomorrow... the bladder inside seems OK so looks like seals will do the trick. Might as well do both.. actually a lot less complicated then I thought once i figured out the principal.. I didn't realize the vacuum was on both sides and the springs work to help the little boogers  to lift it...Thumbs Up
Thanks Guy's

Update 10/16:
Rebuilt with kit for $20 and they work great.. faster than ever now... not a bad job at all...

Great how to.  Do not need it yet but I copies it and made a pdf so that it would never ever go away.
