When I turn off my lights and the headlamps disappear I hear a very loud clunk. This is on one side only. I haven't really looked at it yet, but thought I'd post this and see if any body recognizes this and can tell me what the quick fix is. I have a 1968 Coupe.

check to see if the benzel is hitting the plastic shield behind the grill. mine was doing that and it would hang up and then drop. clunk. i removed the shield and it went away. i heated the plastic with a heat gun and curved a little and now no thunk.

There is an adjustment screw that controls the height adjustment of the headlight doors. Check that, also the self aligning bearing that the headlights pivot on. If it is worn the headlight assembly can shift when the actuator moves the assembly.
