Topic: Headlight Problems
in Forum: C3 Body
I have a 1973 L-82 4 Spd. Convertible. I'm finishing up an extensive frame-on resto.
The problem: after rebuilding most components of the headlight system, the headlights go up and stay up after starting the car. I have checked and re-checked the vac hose placements. Hoses are new ,as are actuator seals, bushings, springs, check valve, filter, etc. I had a small leak at the override valve under the dash but fixed it. I'm now preparing to replace the override valve under the dash, (for 12.00 it's worth a try) I have steady vacuum readings but I'm not sure what they are supposed to be, or at what points in the system. Any ideas???
BTW: We should have the C3 meet in Orlando FL. NCRS does a very well attended Winter meet there in January every year. One more good Corvette event is needed here. There are many Corvettes in Florida, and Orlando is a fun place to hang.
Thanks............Lew Filman

Any vacuum leaks at all will cause problems, you may have a leak in the headlight switch. I couldn't operate my headlights at all from the
headlight switch, only from the override switch, but it wasn't leaking. I
ordered a new headlight switch from ecklers and it had a leak you could hear the air coming out,I wasn't able to operate the doors now from either switch. Eclkers sent me a new switch and its leaking air also, so now I may bypass the switch and run the vacuum lines
directly to the override switch
See mcspeed.com then click on "Killer Lights" and change it to electric headlight motors. I have them on a 73 they work great.
Any kind of cam at all will reduce vacuum and will hurt headlight performance.
If it is not an NCRS survivor, go electric.
