Vette(s): Silver '81 mostly original C3. Silver interior, bilstiens, big sway bars, headers.
A couple of quereies on headlight operation...

1) on the rear of each headlight housing are two vertical
pieces in the moulding, one each side, strength members
presumably. On my '81 when the headlights are fully open
three of these (both on one headlight, just one on the
other) contact the rear edge of the headlight opening
quite firmly, indeed so much so that they have taken
chips out of paint on the edge of the opening (mutter
mutter ). Can this interference be adjusted out ?
And if so how ?

2) Is it best to leave the operating linkages and pivot
points dry, or to lubricate them with a wee bit of oil ?

The headlight "pods" are adjustable. I would have to get out the manual to describe the procedure. Give me a little time on that one, unless someone else can do it sooner.
All of the pivot points will benefit from a light lubrication. Motor oil, trans fluid, WD40, Zep45, or your favorite. The pivots would have been lubed originally with a small amount of white lithium grease.

The white lith seems to stick around longer than oil type lubes.

To adjust the light doors, there are 3 bolts at the pivots, loosen those to "wiggle" the assembly around in the opening. Put some masking tape around the edges while you're doing the adjustment to avoid further damage.
