Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
I had to pull my 81 onto the driveway to get some stuff that dropped in front of her.  It was COLD out side.  WHen I pulled the car back in, first the drivers side bucket wouldnt go down.  Turned the lights back on then the right wouldnt go, then neither.  After the car sat in the garage for a few hours I fired her up and they both went down but the left side went slow.  I never had a prob before.  Is this normal for when these get cold or will I have a repair in the spring?  THANKS!!  Kevin.

Sounds like you may have a little moisture in the system that froze up while outside. Then thawed in the garage with the engine heat. Or maybe the rubber diaphrams in the actuators or relays may have stiffened up in the cold. How old are all the vacuum lines and related components?

I had all the vacuum lines checked and replaced as needed in 6/2005

How about the vacuum relays. Are those original or were those replaced?

Any "issing" sound coming from the headlight switch ?  Could be a leak there.  Did you pull and push back on the override, maybe leaving it half-way pushed ?

So if you go out in the garage and fire your car up right now, with the override switch pushed up. Cycle the headlight switch. What are the lights doing now?

Then with the car still running, turn the headlight switch off and then cycle the override switch. What does it do then?

With the car in the warm garage she works just fine..  To be a glutton for punishment, I put her on the drive and she went winkie again.  Back in the warm garage works as expected..

Odd. Something just ain't making sense. Sorry I can't be of further assistance. I would need the car in possesion for awhile to track down the problem. Unfortunately we live to far away from each other so that is not feasible.

Maybe our one gold member here "proracr" author of a headlight and wiper door troubleshooting guide, would be so kind to offer a tidbit of info as to what could be the problem.

I see he has his guide available to buy. I may just go ahead and purchase one and see if the answer is in there.

So...how long does it have to be "cold" before the problem, and how long back in the "warm" garage does it take to work well?
This is definitely a strange one!
I'd be inclined to believe the relay valves are the culprits. Being plastic, it wouldn't take much coldness to make one hang, especially if there was any moisture in them. I've had a lot of these relays apart for repair, and there ain't anything in them that would be defined as "hearty".
I think I'd be replacing the relay valves. They're a lot cheaper than the actuators.
