I did my headlights just recently. The hardest part is lining them up again. I'm in Howell Township down in Monmouth County. If you need some help, let me know. If I owned more than one C3, I'd go back to myself for repeat business!!

Either way, take you time and try to put the clevis back the same # threads that it was on originally. Worth the effort. The lights work smooth as silk now!

Thanks for the offer Luke! I'm taking apart one at a time. Did you replace the bearings also? I found some small cracks in the housing that I may JB weld. The car is a "driver".

Did all of the bearings, pins, springs, bushings and ajusters. Reconditioned all of the major bracketry. My pass side bearings were shot and the assembly would hang up when closing, then suddenly snap closed! No more....

Mine's a driver also, however, I'm an artist with a spray can when things are apart. Know what mean?

Give me a shout if you run into any snags.

Here"s some pics of my project:

Paul--I just gotta say, those look fantastic! Now you've gone and set a standard that I'll have to attempt to approach (unlikely, but I can try!) when I get around to reconditioning our headlight fixtures...
meantime, the pics are very helpful in figuring out the spring array. When I replaced the lights themselves recently I discovered that a couple are missing...
beautiful job you did!

Thanks Ted. Give me a holler if you have any questions when you take this on.

Heat riser is the flap that is on the right side attached to the exhaust manifold, and the exhaust pipe is attached to it. It restricts the flow of exhaust and directs it across the intake manifold to preheat the manifold and promote fuel evaporation on a cold motor. Once warm it opens and allows unrestricted flow, and also stops heating the intake.
They rust badly. GM Heat Riser lube is designed to free up and this devices and keep them free. No other lube holds up to the heat or has the penatrating power.

The bearings in mine were frozen, both RH & LH support brackets are broken so everything will be replaced.

Ok, I have a Lil question. I took mine in to have the headlights adjusted. But, High beam wouldn't come up to where it was supposed to go. low beam adjusted fine. The high beam adjustment ran out. I know I have some adjusting to do. What can I do to fix the problem. ?

Make sure you have 2 adjusters and a good spring on the basket that the bulb sits in. Also, check to see that they are adjusting fairly evenly. Other than that, these are fairly easy to adjust.
