My hood fits front and back no problems. But where it goes over the fender about the middle of hood it does not fit properly. It is about a 1/2in down on both sides. It is as if the fenders have kinda like a rounded contour and the hood is straight. Does anyone know of this or how to make it fit properly. I have tried rubber bumpers but afraid that will only crack the hood. Thanks
Hood is off different car but is a 76 hood. Both the hoods I have do the same. One came with the front clip but does not go with the clip. The other is my stock hood. Both fit just about the same.

It is a fairly common issue on the Shark cars...unfortunately.
There were rubber bumpers that were affixed to the fender ledge, to hold the center of the hood up, but not all cars had them to start with. There shouldn't be an issue with cracking, or otherwise damaging the hood using them.
My '74 never had the bumpers, and the center part of the hood is just like yours...it sits down from the fender a ways...I just got used to it.

I had the same issue and last winter installed the rubber bumpers in the fender rail. The hood now lines up much better

I have seen the rubber supports on some '82s, but mine does not have them. I believe they got lost when it was painted.
I think my fit is pretty good.
Maybe by '82 they were doing better in the quality dept.

Joel is right that this is a common problem. Some people have reported success with putting spacers in temporarily that raise the hood a little too much, forcing the hood closed (GENTLY), and shining a heat lamp on the whole hood for a day or two. That sometimes warps it back closer to right. Then the stock bumpers should make it fit pretty well.

The bumpers lined my hood right up!! Try Arts Corvette Parts.

Well was really afraid of cracking hood and just did not want to do that. I ended up adding a little fiberglass to the hood you can't even tell that it has been done. Worked great. About a week and it will be back to me I hope. Will be displayed during the 4th of July celeb. in Granbury. Tx.
I was in a local car show yesterday.
After the judges looked at my engine they asked me to put the hood down so they could check the alignment.
After I closed the hood they looked at it and asked if it was the original hood.
I told him that to the best of my knowledge it was.
He said he never saw an original hood with as good a fit as mine.
I think he took a couple of points off.
