I have two C3's, a 73 and a 74. The underside of the 73 hood is black and the underside of the 74 is the same as the car. Which one is correct? Thanks.

Black would be my thought. Can't recall seeing one like that.

Black is "correct", but not all of the underside of the hood was painted. Just the center area...nothing on the sides/edges closest to the fenders, and very little on the rear, toward the windshield. I have a couple of pics somewhere...I'll see if I can find/scan/upload them.
If you're NOT going NCRS/Bloomington, then you can just go ahead and spray the whole underside. I will give you a little tip, tho...
When you paint the bottom of the hood, be sure to mask off the entire fresh air/cowl induction set-up. When I did my '74, I thought I had all of it masked off, but I didn't...so I got LOTS of nice, semi-black paint all over the top of my NEWLY PAINTED hood!!!

Thanks. I thought it was supposed to be black. Now for a hard one. What color should the under side of the convertible deck lid be, black or the same as the car?

I think that would be body color, but I'm not sure...it would be hard to get a good surface finish under there, so it may have been blacked out also....I can check the book when I get home, if no-one else has an answer for that.
