I just ordered a replacement under hood insulation blanket form Mid American. Does anyone have any experience installing one? I did order an new set of pins; but I am wondering if it will also need to be glued in place to keep it from sagging? If so, what type of glue to use.

If it is a "generic" blanket, meaning it is not molded, you will most likely need to shoot some glue on it. If it is a molded blanket, it should not need any adhesive, but you can put some on it if ya want to, just for fun. Use the 3M spray carpet/trim adhesive....sparingly.

Thanks, for the advice, Joel. I kinda thought I might need some adhesive to help it stay in place. I can always count on my vette buddies for good advice.

fyi...if your retainer pins are missing, or you are replacing them, those will require a different type of adhesive to stick them to the fiberglass of the hood. Might need to get some Lord Fusor, or a similar bonding compound.

Joel, I do have some pins missing. I ordered replacement pins. I was planning to use epoxy to hold them in place. Will this work?

Prolly be otay. Just be sure to clean the area really well first, and then let the epoxy completely set before installing the insulation.

also might consider Gorilla Glue for the pins ?
I have had real good results.
I made a speaker enclosure, where I glued 4" PVC pipe to MDF particle board. And has yet to fail.
