Need to replace the fiberglass blanket under the hood of my '78 L-82 since it's shedding into the engine compartment. Zip Products and Corvette Central descibe their replacements as "flat, not molded like the original" Does this cause any installation concerns? Originality is not important here. Thanks!

It'll fit ok. Just won't "conform" to the curves and such of the hood. As long as all of the attachment pins are still firmly stuck to the hood, you shouldn't have any problems.

I can't remember which vendor I got it from, but one of the vendors sells a molded one (at least they had one for my 79). I got it two or three years ago, never put it on because under the hood needed to be painted. Now its down at the paint shop and they're going to put it on after paint is done. Keep looking!

Thanks Joel and thanks Barry - I wll pull the pad down to see what I'm left with. Dynamat makes a reflective "hoodliner" product that has an adhesive backing, but it may not stick very well to the surface under the hood. Now all I need is a garage!
