IHAVE READ ALL THE POST REGARDING THIS SITUATION. HOWEVER, MINE IS ALITTLE DIFFERENT. WHILE ADJUSTING THE HOOD I INSTALLED THE DRIVERS SIDE LATCH PIN (SPEAR), I CLOSED THE HOOD TO SEE IF IT WOULD LATCH AND IT DID , THEN I COULD NOT GET IT TO OPEN. THE CABLES ARE WORKING FINE AND THE LATCHES RELEASE. MY PROBLEM IS THE STRIKE SPEAR IS CAUGHT IN THE LATCH. THERE IS A LIP ON THE BOTTOM OF IT AND IT WON`T RELEASE FROM THE LATCH, IT GETS CAUGHT.
PULLING ON THE CROSS CABLE DOESN`T RELAESE IT. NOR DOES PUSHING THE MAIN HOOD CABLE LATCH.
ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA. I`M GOING TO RAISE THE CAR TO SEE IF I CAN ACCESS THE SPEAR FROM THE UNDERNEATH. AFTER THAT I`M OUT OF IDEAS. FREAH POINT OF VIEW WOULD BE WELCOME, THANKS, BOB

Have you tried pushing down on the hood - directly over the spear while pulling on the release - maybe this could free up the %$#&^% thing and it will pop up - just a thought - perhaps if you can push up from the bottom on the spear - while the cable is pulled - Please let us know what happens

You might try pushing sideways in both directions on the hood while someone pulls on the cable.
You might have someone push down on the front of the hood while you pull the cable.
You might try pushing down on the center/edge(mid-way between the latch and the headlight area) of the hood, while pulling up on the corner that is stuck.
If all else fails, lay a folded towel on the hood above the latch, and have someone pull the cable, while you beat down on the towel, with the flat of your hand, or a fist. Sometimes, the bouncing motion like this will be enough to pop the latch around the spear, and let it pass the lip.
Jacking the front of the car, from the center of the front cross member, might just move the body enough to release the latch, depending on which way it is too far out of adjustment. It might also make it even tighter...
If that happens, try jacking it up from the frame behind the front wheels...this will let the front of the body "sag" a little...
Good luck. Hope ya get it open.

Hey Bob, If all else fails take a crowbar in each side near the catch and pry like crazy!!!!

Mine did the same and we were able to get a socket with enough length and swivels to loosen the latch on the hood portion. Mine probably has better access though having the eggcrate sides but you may be able to do it from underneath. It is really frustrating!

Bob if you get it upin the air can yo take something like a cane (it has a nice rubber tip & a handle) and push up in the general area of the latch?
Everyone else was pushing down (closed) I thought I might head in the open position...

UNJAMMED AND OPEN, THANKS TO ALL FOR THE INPUT. aFTER TRYING ALL OF THOSE AND SOME MORE OF MY OWN, WE DETERMINED THAT I HAD TO LOOSE THE DRIVER SIDE HINGE BOLTS AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR. A LONG SKINNY ARMED FRIEND OF MINE WAS ABLE TO REACH UP THROUGH THE OPEN GRILL AND LOOSEN THE BOLTS. a SMALL JIGLLE TOWARD THE WINDSHEIL AND OPEN SHE CAME. WHAT A PIA. DETERTMINED THAT MY CABLES WERE A BIT WORN TO SO I BOUGHT NEW ONES AND WILL REPLACE BEFORE I ATTEMPT TO ADJUST AGAIN.
