Ordered a new "under the hood" light for my 79 Vette.  When I unscrewed the old one the screw anchors that were in the hood (what the screws were securely fastened to) broke into several pieces and fell out of the hood.  Now there is nothing left there for the screws to screw into.  I searched around online a little bit searching to see if there was a fix someone else had identified but did not run across anything.  Any suggestions or help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly, the hood light screws fasten into a molded rubber expansion anchor simular to the ones that hold on the luggage racks only much smaller. There should be a vette parts vendor that carries them (ZIP, Corevtte Central or Ecklers). I've also found the same thing, much cheaper, at the local hardware store. Mine is an Ace Hardware, and I have found them in the loose hardware section near the nuts and bolts. Measure the diameter of the hole in the underside of the hood for the size of the rubber insert and take along one of tthe new screws to make sure you get the proper thread. Good luck !!

Vman73,

Thanks for the quick response.  I had checked with the other car sites prior to posting but came up empty handed.  The only one I hadn't checked with is Zip Corvette.   After you mentioned that one in your post, I did a search there and found it !!

Thanks for your help.  Part is currently being ordered.
