DOes anyone know where I can get a replacement hood release cable for an '81? I need the cable that is under the hood and goes from the driver side to the passenger side, not the one inside the car with the handle.
Thanx, Jim

I need to find another source. They are claiming that I didn't pay for a cover in 2009. My wife bought it for ma as a Christmas gift and paid for it with here own credit card - I had nothing to do with it (except recieving it as a gift).
Thanks, Jim

Riks Corvette parts is showing one that is USA made, part number HOD 132 for $29.95. Great people to do business with and handle quality parts, and in addition, they are a forum sponsor.

Thanks for the tip. Going to check it out now. I always prefer to buy "Made in The USA," and especially from a sponsor.

I actually tried to get on Rik's site this morning, but I never could connect, so I went to Mid Am...

I bought the part i needed this afternoon - from Rik's. Thanks all!
Over the years, I have had many C-3's and have had more than one broken hood release cable. After the second one, I have since ALWAYS installed a second one which hangs down immediately below the left hood release. Since I know where it is, if something goes wrong, I can get my hood open every time. Good insurance and only my 2 cents.

I was thinking abot that and it's definitely worthy of serios consideration. I was contmeplating what I would have to go through if the cable were to break with the hood closed. How would I get it opened!?

I have never had a cable to break but after reading all the posts here and on other forums (none of which compare to C3VR) I also made and installed emergency cables. Mine hang down on each side and are cable tied where I can reach them if needed. Unless you specifically look for the cables you will never notice them. Some of the corvette part suppliers are selling emergency kits but I made mine from inexpensive stainless cables from a bicycle shop. This POST has information on opening the hood if the cable should break with the hood closed.
